Seeds of the current insurrection against the United States were planted more than a century ago, and have found fertile ground at times. At other times, Americans have been more rigorous in not yielding to autocracy and white supremacy. The nation has never been resolute in exterminating those ideologies, and now risks being destroyed by them.
Something is very wrong when it is considered okay for Ted Cruz to defend a fascist parent who executed a nazi salute while citizens are attacked for exercising their right to protest extrajudicial police violence. After countless opportunities to do the math and be reasonable, a little less than half of the USA is willing to witness and accept fascist governance.
If you think this is about the headliners (Trump, Biden, Cawthorn, Omar, Greene, Pelosi, etc.), think again. This is about us neighbors, and issues will be settled between us neighbors. Do not skew the talk toward notions of "small government, light taxation, and deregulation. The end game is fascism; we all know the code words and dog whistles.
